Nina Jacoby honored as one of our Hometown Heroes! 02/09/2005

Nina Jacoby, one of our club's Board of Governors was written up in the December 20, 2004 Cincinnati Enquirer's Hometown Heroes section for her volunteer work for the American Cancer Society. Way to go Nina! What follows is an extract of the article:

Diagnosed 28 years ago, she's volunteer When Nina Jacoby was diagnosed with colon cancer, she was given just six months to live. That was 28 years ago. An ileostomy saved her life, and now she spends much of time trying to save others. She talks to anyone who will listen about fighting for survival, the need of early detection and facing cancer head on. Even while recovering, Jacoby started helping others. 12th ANNUAL GOLF OUTING AND DINNER JUNE 11, 2005 07/13/2005

The 12th Annual Greater Cincinnati OSU Alumni Club “ Buckeye Classic” Golf Outing & Dinner was a great day for everyone that participated. “Mother Nature” cooperated keeping the rain away and the heat at bay with some cloud cover on June 11, 2005 at Crooked Tree Golf Course in Mason allowing the 46 golfers in attendance to have a great day on the course.

Our guest speaker for the dinner was John Peterson, tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator for the Buckeyes. John is an Ohio State graduate & former offensive lineman “1987 –1990”, and local native from neighboring Middletown, Ohio. John provided lots of great insight on the football program, fielding lots of questions from the 60 dinner guests in the audience. When it came time for the “famous” raffle John pitched in to help us out by pulling tickets and running prizes to the winners. Thanks John!

Thanks to everyone that helped make the event a great success, donors, sponsors and participants. Because of you we are able to continue to build our scholarship endowment for future Buckeyes students from our area!

OSU Women's Soccer is coming to town August 28th! 07/26/2005
The OSU Women's Soccer Team will be playing Xavier here in Cincinnati on Sunday, August 28th at 1:00 pm. Ohio State is the defending Big 10 Women's Soccer Champ. Last year OSU made the Elite 8 in the NCAA championships. There are three local Cincinnati players on the current OSU roster. Last year OSU beat Xavier 8-1 in Columbus. The Sarasota-Manatee Ohio State Alumni Club ticket raffle 08/10/2005
The Sarasota-Manatee Ohio State Alumni Club is raffling off 2 Presidents Club tickets for each of the Ohio State home games. They are inviting us to join their raffle. Help out the OSU Women's Club Hockey team! 09/14/2005
Dear Football Game Watch Coordinator:

My daughter, Cambria Knutson, a graduate of Sparkman High School, in Huntsville, AL, will be a freshman at The Ohio State University beginning on September 21, 2005. She will also be playing for the Women's Club Ice Hockey team as goalie for the 2005-2006 season (http://www.osuwomensclubhockey.org/News/knutsen.htm). Since the team is only minimally supported financially by OSU, it depends a great deal on fund-raisers. One of their main fund-raisers this year is a wonderful OSU Tailgate Tablecover. Hurricane Katrina Relief - September to Remember 09/14/2005
The Ohio State University, in collaboration with the University of Texas, will be encouraging alumni and fans to contact the Red Cross directly to donate. Please donate in the name of your local club and the university. If you or someone you know wishes to give a personal donation, please direct them to the Red Cross web site at: http://www.redcross.org/. Cash seems to be what they need the most.
